Participation banking refers to a banking model which operates according to the principles of interest-free banking, carries out all kinds of banking activities in accordance with these principles, collects funds on the basis of participation in profit and loss, and makes funds available through trade, shareholding and financial leasing, etc.

The funds collected from savers are utilized in trade and industry within the principles of interest-free financing, and the profits and losses are shared with the savers.

While profit share is determined at the end of the maturity, interest is determined at the beginning of the maturity. The profit share payable to the customer is paid from the profit arising from the utilization of the pooled funds, while the interest payable to the customer is paid from the income generated by the bank from its various sources. Credit interest rates are foremost  among them.

Funds deposited in participation accounts are collected in pools according to the relevant currency.  The profit share to be paid to the customer depends on the level of profit generated as a result of using the funds in these pools. The accumulated amount of profits distributed on a daily basis at the end of the term is paid to the customer as profit share.
